Hafeez Contractor
Principal Architect, Founder
Regarded by New York Times as "The Man Who Draws India", Hafeez Contractor is an architect and urbanist, practicing in Mumbai. Since founding Architect Hafeez Contractor (AHC) in 1982, he has led the firm to be a dynamic team of over 600 professionals, with a portfolio spanning residential townships, business parks, educational campuses, hospitals, sports stadiums and several public projects.

Hafeez's architecture is purpose-driven, addressing the urgent need for improved infrastructure in Indian cities while aiming to meet global standards. This vision is evident in large-scale projects like the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai, the expansive DLF Cyber City in Gurgaon, and townships such as Hiranandani Gardens in Powai. With several successful residential projects across the country, his work has helped shape the aspirations of India's growing middle class, promoting high-rise living and gated community housing, as the new face of urban India. His work has also influenced national housing and urban policy, most notably through his collaboration with Shiv Shahi Punarvasan Prakalp Ltd. (SSPPL), which helped establish a policy model offering free housing to slum dwellers via developer incentives. This led to landmark high-rise projects such as the Imperial Towers (253 m) and Minerva Towers (300 m) in Mumbai.
