Sited in the new Infosys campus in Pune, the software development block’s initial concept was inspired by the thought of germinating seeds, which is meant to denote the evolution of an idea. The egg shaped block has tapering columns in the entrance. The form also creates different floor plans on each level, allowing greater creativity in interior design. The profile of the building is elliptical in plan and section. Even with its challenging form, the building achieves the economy and efficiency that Infosys stipulates for its offices. The clear glazing that show off the steel frames enhance the quality of the slanting planes of the structure. The 2-storey entrance lobby has glass elevators that add to the experience of the transparent atrium offering expansive vistas of the outdoors. The 1st and the 2nd level office spaces overlook the clear glass entrance plaza. The 3rd, 4th and the 5th levels take in the entire profile of the form. Their work areas layer around the internal atrium. The floor plates increase from one side and decrease from another to achieve the curving nature of the oval form.
