The ONCG corporate office in Dehradun is a modern day architecture marvel, a structure which will make every Indian gleam with pride. Dehradun being a major tourist hill station needed a contemporary office building but at the same time it could not tamper with the views of the refreshing hills and native wildflowers. Thus the concept of this office camouflaged within a hill came about. The architect’s idea was to create the impression that the surroundings have been lifted up and the office building is placed underneath it, the result being a 1.5 acre living green roof thriving with native flora which would attract a host of indigenous birds. This grassy meadow is IGBC LEEDS Platinum rated modern building with state of the art amenities yet completely in sync with the local surroundings.
This 5 acre heavily contoured site has a built up area of almost 1,50,000 sq ft spread over five floors. It has a parking capacity of 200 cars, a health club and a food court for its 580 employees. The structure has large lightwells to enable natural light during the day and it radiates green light during the night giving a sense of an illuminated emerald mound. A helipad on the living roof just adds a lot of exuberance and animation to this iconic structure in the mountains.
