Located in the existing campus in Bangalore, the software development block occupies the periphery of the site, facing the Hosur Road. The building programme, other than featuring a software development centre, also includes an exhibition area. The building therein was meant to function as an interface between the company and its clients. The 6-storey structure includes the office area on each of the floors. It houses 2,500 professionals around a well landscaped atrium. A segment of the ground and 1st floor is dedicated to a double height exhibition area. A large sphere is set in the centre of the composition. The idea for this giant sphere was derived from the large circular landscaped area, which centres the office blocks. The structure had to showcase the products and services that Infosys offers. So the architect envisaged the building to act as a stage or a platform where the company could present their ideas. The design proposes a concept in which the preliminary audio presentation begins as one reaches the landscaped central plaza, which is set around the other office blocks. As one moves on, the integration of technology and architecture is evident. In a dramatic conception, the sphere functions as a giant screen and merges the lines of technology and architecture. The building also successfully combines landscape and architecture. The landscape elements in the atrium introduce a dash of greenery into the workspaces. The palms edging the giant ramp that traverses through the entire height of the structure again demonstrates the merger of landscape and architecture.
