The powerful organic form of the towers Megh, Malhar and Raag often captivates an onlooker with its outlandish expression. The multi-storeyed structure manifests itself almost like a series of layered mushrooms. Its magnetism lies in its new aesthetic rhetoric. The masses were so fascinated with this rather uncanny design, that it inspired a number of shoddy imitations of similar looking structures across the city. But, mere aesthetics were not the decisive reason that drove the architect to craft this creation. In the initial stages of the project, the client had rather severe stipulations on various aspects of design including dimensions. The developer came in with the unit size of every area of the flat. The restriction had its roots in a developmental control rule called the “Urban Land Ceiling Act”, which specified that the apartments in the city could not measure more than 80 sq mtr. When the architect worked on the design, it was excruciating to arrive at an exact size, so finally he cut off the edges of the square to achieve the exact area. This gave rise to the rounded form that often invites both awe and shock. Located at Yashodham Enclave, at the foothills of the Sahyadri Range, the sensuous forms of the three tower blocks can be spotted from afar, perched atop gently sloping hills overlooking the lush green precincts of the Sanjay Gandhi National Park and the Aarey Milk Colony. It comprises of tower apartments, split-level villa apartments, duplex terrace apartments and penthouses. The tower apartments feature a spacious living room and 2 bedrooms. An ornate flowerbed for each apartment is the unique feature of the tower apartments. The split-level villa apartments are beautifully designed with private gardens. There are 3 bedrooms, one on the ground floor with its own private courtyard and two on the 1st floor, opening on to exclusive terraces. The terrace apartments open out to private terrace gardens. The penthouses offer a double volume living room, with an open deck and flowerbed.
